Willie Sconiers Obituary

Mr. Willie L. Sconiers was born on January 2, 1931 to the late Melton Sconiers and Anna Rivers Sconiers, on the edge of Coffee and Dale County Alabama.  "Uncle Willie", as he was affectionately known, attended the Slocomb School system where he gained many lifetime friends. Some of his school mates still refer to him as a "star basketball player."

Uncle Willie served his country in the United States Army and received a Honorable Discharge in 1955.  He served his tour of duty in Orme, Germany.  After serving his country, he relocated to Plant City, Florida in 1956 and was employed at IMC Global Phosphate Plant for thirty-eight years until he retired.

Uncle Willie joined the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida where he professed salvation and served faithfully.  He cherished attending Sunday School and sharing the revelation and knowledge that God had given him as he studied his bible.

Those who have preceded him in death are his parents, Melton and Anna, his brothers and several sister-in-laws, Grady (deceased at birth), Alto and Gessie Mae, Curtis and Ethel, James, Melton and Lillie Bea, Celester and Addie Beatrice, and Fred Donald, Jr.  Two sisters, Mary Bell and Fred, and Doshia.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a host of nieces and nephews, a favorite niece Carolyn (Joe Albert) Curry, a small group of hometown classmates, his St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church family, and close friends near and far.
