The Lord Called Jimmie Lee Blake home on May 30th, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born in Elba, Alabama, to the late Dennis Blake and Leitha Pope.
During his life Jimmie was a devoted truck driver, he had a long enjoyable career of 54 years before his retirement.
No one who met Jimmie will deny his country slang and “cool daddy” nature. You were guaranteed to get a “sho nuff” out of him while he told story after story of his upbringing, over the road experiences, and his children.
He was a dependable leader of his family. Everyone knew they could go to him for a judgment free vent session. He definitely made his mark on his community. He has left a huge void to fill by an entourage of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Dennis and Leitha Blake; and sister Mary Nell Phillips.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his current wife: Rushie Blake; 11 children: Jimmie Blake Jr., Arthur Blake, Patrick Blake, Dennis Blake, Laconia Blake Sr., Vanessa Blake Garcia, Vontrice Wilson, DeCarlos Brown, Harold Blake, James Blake, and Faye Graham; Sister: Pauline Cohen; cousin: Porter Flowers; 44 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
The family appreciates all kind gestures during this time of bereavement.
