Esther Mae Snowden was born on April 25, 1943, in Live Oak, FL. She was the daughter to the late Presiding Elder George Anderson Rutledge and Willie Mae Rutledge.
Esther Snowden was an active member of New Bethel A.M.E. Church. She served in the Young People's Division, was Commissioner for the Debutante-Masters Ceremony, a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Lay Organization, the Steward Board and served as a class leader. She also had the honor to serve on the Board of Trustees at Edward Waters University.
Esther Mae Snowden was educated in the Hillsborough County School System, graduating from Marshall High School in 1961. She continued her education at Edward Waters College, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She retired, after teaching for more than 36 years.
Esther Snowden was married to the late Samuel Tyrone Snowden. They had three children: Samuel Tyrone Snowden, Jr. (deceased), LaGretta Snowden and Michael Tyrone Snowden.
